Vent Pipe Boot

A vent pipe boot is defined as a pre-formed flashing assembly consisting of a metal base plate with an integrated rubber or neoprene collar that seals around plumbing vent pipes where they penetrate the roof surface. Standard vent pipe boots accommodate pipe diameters from 1-1/2 inches to 4 inches. The rubber collar is the most failure-prone component on a roof, with an average lifespan of 10 to 15 years, making vent pipe boots one of the most common sources of roof leaks. All vent pipe boots should be replaced during a roof replacement.
